What was your role?
I was in charge of looking after the campers and making sure they got to each meal and activity on time.
What was the best AND worst bits?
I enjoyed camp, as I made loads of new friends who I am still in touch with now but it was a long way to be away from home for.
What should everyone pack for camp?
Something to symbolise their home country. For example, a flag or shirt.
What should everyone know before camp?
To be open minded and to not have a fixed image of what camp is.
What did you learn from camp?
I learned how to be patient and appreciate the little time I had to myself.
Where have you visited as a result of camp?
Mainly New York City
Where do you want to travel this year?
Anywhere life takes me
How did you deal with the long days?
Just take one activity at a time and try to make everything as fun as possible for all.
Has camp changed you at all?
Yes, it has made me a lot more confident in everyday life and looks to be leading to a full time role with the company I originally applied through.
Any advice for people thinking of applying?
To go for it, it’ll be the best decision you ever make.
How was the application process?
It was easy to complete and I had loads of help from the AmeriCamp team whenever I needed.
Best camp song?
Little red wagon
Best evening programme?
Movie night, with movies we made with our campers
